Instructions for Preparing the User for the Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Chamber

 

  • Each user–patient must wear 100% cotton clothing during therapy.
  • It is not permitted for the user–patient to bring personal belongings into the chamber.

It is strictly forbidden to bring in any items that fall under the category of highly flammable substances (glue, lacquer, spray, powder, greasy creams…), explosive materials (lighters, batteries, mobile phones, other devices or equipment…). Personal items such as newspapers, magazines, cigarettes, etc., are also not allowed.

  • Each user–patient must shower their body before entering the chamber; the same applies to hair, which must be washed or wrapped in a cotton towel.

(Use of hair spray, nail polish, deodorants, and other cosmetic products for face and body, as well as topical ointments for skin conditions, is not allowed before entering the chamber.)

  • If the user–patient uses a hearing aid, dental prosthesis, or any other prosthetic device (glasses, lenses), they must be removed before entering the chamber.
  • If the user–patient has wounds, they must be properly covered with gauze soaked in saline solution.
  • Food intake: the user–patient should eat a meal 1.5 hours before entering the chamber. The food should be easily digestible, without cellulose or CO₂.
  • Smokers: it is not recommended to smoke 2 hours before and 2 hours after the chamber therapy.
  • If the user–patient is on prescribed medication, they may continue taking it regularly according to the doctor’s instructions.
  • At least 30 minutes before entering the chamber, the user–patient should urinate or have a bowel movement.
  • After completing therapy in the hyperbaric chamber, the user–patient must remain under supervision in the facility for an additional 20 minutes.
